If the Scottish King would admit the claim put forward by Henry to the overlordship, doing homage for his crown, and accepting summons and attendance at the English Parliament, a final peace might be arranged between the two countries. If he still disputed the claim, it might be held in abeyance for a term of years, to be submitted to the decision of certain sage and discreet persons on both sides; and, in the meantime, a general truce might be made between the two countries, the Scottish King undertaking to supply 500 men, when required.
