Redmond kindly gave me access to the papers of her father, Mr. Philip Carman. These covered the first ten years, but from that down to very recent times I was confined almost entirely to the minutes and accounts of the School Board, returns to the Government, and my own knowledge of local history. The speeches and papers of the three headmasters, one assistant, and the chairman of the Board, given in the Appendix, it is hoped will make good some of the short comings in the body of the work, resulting from my want of familiarity with the inside life of the school.
