Excerpt from A Register of Publications of the Institute and of Its Officers, Students and Alumni, 1862-1893 The compilation, at the present time, was resolved upon for three reasons: tst, it was felt that the longer the matter was delayed, the less likelihood would there be of its being ever accomplished 2d, circum stances, not likely to occur again, made it possible for the compiler to give the necessary time to the work 3d, and chie¿y, it was thought that it would be a pleasant thing to give Excerpt from A Register of Publications of the Institute and of Its Officers, Students and Alumni, 1862-1893 The compilation, at the present time, was resolved upon for three reasons: tst, it was felt that the longer the matter was delayed, the less likelihood would there be of its being ever accomplished 2d, circum stances, not likely to occur again, made it possible for the compiler to give the necessary time to the work 3d, and chie¿y, it was thought that it would be a pleasant thing to give to Professor rogers, as he retires from active duty, this new evidence of the usefulness of the school in whose beginnings he has had so great a share. The publication of the list has been made possible by the generous subscriptions of professors, alumni, and friends, and by the aid of the Alumni Association. The compiler is under obligations to a great many persons for assistance in collecting material and, especially, for advice and counsel to Professor Charles R. Cross, Secretary of the Alumni Association. It is hoped that this will be followed in the course of five or, at most, of ten years by a similar bibliography, covering the interval; and all persons whose names should appear in the list are earnestly requested to communicate to the undersigned any errors or omissions which they may discover in the present issue, and also to furnish him with the titles of whatever they may print promptly as the articles appear. The work will be kept in such shape that, in case of accident to the present compiler, some one else can readily take it up and carry it on.
