In addition to the funding it was felt that WFRS should have a rose baptized during the World Rose Convention in Copenhagen. Convenor Inger Schierning quickly agreed and discovered that Rosa Eskelund, a young Danish rose breeder, offered to provide a suitable variety, to be named 'Friendship Forever' with the royalties on sales to be given to WFRS! These actions have stimulated the production of this 50th anniversary volume. WFRS is delighted with the demonstrated passion for these projects. Albert Schweitzer once wrote, "No ray of sunlight is ever lost. But the green which it wakes needs time to sprout. And it is not always granted to the sower to live to see the harvest.
