Selected peer-reviewed papers from the conference are presented here. Section 1 focuses on materials and materials engineering, with papers on topics such as stability of geogrid reinforced tailings, a new adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control for uncertain nonlinear systems, synthesis and fluorescence switching of a photochromic diarylethene bearing chlorine atoms, and numerical simulation of the micro flow field of a micro injector. Section 2 presents recent work on mechanical engineering and materials, with papers on thermal-assisted direct bonding of glasses for lab-on-chip application through surface activation processes, the application of thermosensitive gel nano-material in neurosurgery, image stitching in robot target recognition, and analysis of aerodynamics characteristics of a high length-to-diameter ratio missile.
