Neuware - Historically, the impact of United States of American foreign policy has been felt in every Middle East country due to the strategic importance to US interests. The presence of oil, the security of Israel, the war on terror and long standing competition with Russia have provoked a variety of US interventions, ranging from diplomatic overtures of friendship to full blown wars. As evidenced by the Syrian crisis, the unrest in Syria had the potential to affect US national interests either directly or indirectly. Preserving regional peace, ending state sponsorship of terrorism, limiting the spread of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and supporting human rights and democracy are the major reasons for US involvement in the Syrian crisis. Therefore, this study aims to examine the effectiveness of the US foreign policy in resolving Middle East conflicts, with a particular focus on the Syrian crisis. This study extensively relied on a qualitative research design. The design was found suitable because of the nature of the topic under study, primarily, due to the fact that the research is literature based. The information was drawn from case studies and documentary search. 84 pp. Englisch.
