This guide brings together little-known information abut the plants that we commonly find along roadsides or remnants of native vegetation in the inter-Andean valleys of Ecuador. It not only includes basic characteristics such as the shape of the leaves, and the color of the flowers, but also the traditional medicinal uses and the incredible adaptations the plants have made to survive in these dry environments. The aim of this guide is to help the reader recognize or find the plants without requiring botanical knowledge. At the end of each chapter there are pictures for a quick identification. The first chapter of this book includes general information of Quito's dry valleys, notes about geology, uses of the forest resources and an example of the history of the vegetation of the dry inter-Andean forests found in the Chiche Canyon, located to the east of Quito.
